Monsters in the Park

I love running on my free time and one of the places I love to run is at the Mable Davis Municipal park. The trail there is embedded in a little natural preserve and is about a mile or so long. The park lacks amenities like water fountains, lights, and benches; so I would like my public art proposal to address what I feel the park could use.

At the south end of the park there is a small lake which feeds the creek that runs through the park. It inspired me to go with a sea monster theme.  I would like to have little sea monsters popping in and out of the creek and some of them on the water fountains and light posts.

The water fountain would be 3 1/2 feet tall, the fountain itself will be in a sea monsters mouth with its body coiled around the fountain base. To get water all you would have to do is press his tongue down and the fountain will work. At the bottom is a bowl, wrapped in the sea monster's tail, for the excess water to fall in for runners with dogs so that the dogs can have a drink too.

The lights will be a sea monster with the light in his mouth. The light post would be about 10 feet tall and also have the sea monster coiled up the post.-Christian R.
