If you hadn't guessed already (or if I hadn't told you in class Tuesday ;]) the song Tie A Yellow Ribbon by Tony Orlando and Dawn was the inspiration for my project. This song is near and dear to my heart. I have irreplaceable memories of my mom, sister, and I singing this song on seemingly endless car rides to Shreveport, Louisiana. My mom's Oldies but Goodies CDs made the drive so much more entertaining. I can hear us singing (some would argue that we were screaming) What's New Pussycat? and Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head. Tie A Yellow Ribbon is about a man who has been in jail and as his release date is approaching he asks his love to tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree if she still wants to be with him.
"Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree
It's been three long years
Do you still want me?
If I don't see a ribbon round the old oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree"
This song turned into this public intervention:
Enjoy, my fellow artist.

"Now the whole damn bus is cheering
And I can't believe I see
A hundred yellow ribbons 'round the old oak tree
I'm comin' home"
